Probably the most important place near Shannon Town is the Shannon River and the most amazing part of the river worth visiting is its Estuary which is almost 100km. Here Atlantic and Shannon unites producing an amazing environment for marine life. Limeric City is situated here which is famous for Norman architecture such as King John’s Castle and st. Marry Cathedral. The headland on the north side of the mouth is known as Loop Head where a prominent lighthouse presents the most eye catching view.
